Both Dev and Chandni have walked through fires of hardship. From abusive parents to pangs of hunger, forced beggary on the unforgiving streets of Delhi, and even enduring a fortnight in a juvenile correctional home – their struggles only strengthened their resolve. Instead of succumbing to despair, they turned their trials into a mission to uplift other children living in similar circumstances.
A Cry for Help in the Shadows
“Ramadan and Eid bring happiness and joy. These are times one wishes to celebrate with their loved ones – enjoy their mother’s cooking, listen to their father’s stories… Unfortunately, the kids we work with are not so lucky. Some of them are orphans while others have sick or abusive parents. They hardly get to eat daily and often go to the garbage dump to find something, rotten and old, to fill their stomach,” shares Dev Pratap Singh, Co-Founder of Voice of Slum.
